Cultural factors in teaching and learning foreign languages

Abstract

    Linguists recognize that understanding cultures is essential in teaching and learning foreign languages. Therefore, inteaching foreign languages in general, English in particular, teachers should help learners recognize the differences and similarities betweenlanguages in terms of culture, understand the lifestyle and customs of the Westerners, thereby, learners will be able to avoid regretfulmisunderstanding in their use of foreign languages with foreigners.
