Abstract

   On November 20, 2019, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam passed the amended Labor Code 2019 (called the Labor Code 2019, effective from January 1, 2021). In addition to the needs in domestic, the Labor Code 2019 is also aimed at fulfilling Vietnam's international commitments on gender equality in the field of labor, meeting the requirements of increasingly deep international integration of Vietnam. The 2019 Labor Code aims to address existing gender gaps. This can be said to be the most comprehensive legal documents that regulates labor and employment issues in Vietnam and has addressed a number of areas where inequality exists. Since then, regulations were created to ensure gender equality for workers in the workplace. The article introduces these new points in the Labor Code 2019 in comparison with the 2012 Labor Code.
