IMPROVE KNOWLEDGE OF WOMEN WHO HAVE 6-24 MONTHS BABIES WITH ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS AT NAM DINH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL IN 2020

Abstract

Objective: To assess the change of mothers’ knowledge about nutritional care for children 6-24 months old with acute respiratory infections at Nam Dinh Children’s Hospital after health education intervention. Method: Study subjects include 75 mothers with children 6-24 months old with ARIs at Nam Dinh Children’s Hospital. Intervention study, comparing before and after health education in the same group of subjects. Results: The mean pre-intervention knowledge score was 13.0 ± 4.7 after the intervention increased to 16.5 ± 2.9, the difference was statistically significant with p <0.05. Before the intervention, 57.3% of mothers achieved knowledge points, after the intervention this rate was 96%. Research shows that the effectiveness of health education interventions has improved mothers’ knowledge of nutritional care so that children with acute respiratory infections have better nutritional care. Conclusion: Knowledge of nutritional care of mothers with children 6 - 24 months before intervention is relatively low and after intervention, there is a marked improvement.
