Abstract

Objective: To assess cardiovascular and renal risk factors using the Careme scoring system in outpatient cardiac patients at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 521 patients who visited the outpatient cardiac department at Hanoi Medical University Hospital for their initial consultation between August 2022 and December 2022. Results: The stratification of cardiovascular and renal risk factors using the Careme scoring system yielded the following resultsvas: very high cardiovascular risk, high cardiovascular risk, moderate cardiovascular risk and low cardiovascular risk were: 32.8%, 26.5%, 24.4%, respectively and 16.3%. The study identified statistically significant associations between cardiovascular and renal risk factors and various factors such as gender, age group, hypertension, diabetes, and smoking status among the patients. Conclusion: The study revealed that the level of cardiovascular and renal risk among outpatient cardiac patients was moderate. Healthcare providers should implement appropriate health counseling and education measures, particularly focusing on modifiable risk factors such as hypertension and smoking, for improved patient outcomes.
