Current state of anxiety and depression of women undergoing in vitro fertilization at Tam Anh General Hospital in Hanoi and some related factor

Abstract

Objective: Describe the situation of anxiety and depression in wives undergoing IVF at Tam Anh General Hospital, Hanoi and identify some related factors. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 385 wives undergoing IVF at the fertility support center of Tam Anh General Hospital, Hanoi from April 2023 to October 2023, assessing anxiety levels , depression according to the DASS scale. Results: The level of anxiety from mild, moderate, severe and very serious cases accounted for 10.9%; 2.3%; 0.3%; and 0% respectively. The percentage of mild, moderate, severe and very serious depression were 8.6% ; 2.1%; 0.5% and 0%, respectively . Factors such as work intensity, type of infertility, and duration of infertility treatment are related to anxiety and depression in the wife.Conclusion: The rates of anxiety and depression in infertile wives undergoing in vitro fertilization were 13.5% and 11.2%, respectively. Medical staff need to encourage and share ideas for wives whose treatment time were 1-3 years; stressful work intensity; cause of secondary infertility
