Factors related to quality of life among patients with gastroesophageal refluxat Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital in 2023

Abstract

Objective: To describe the quality of life and factors related to quality of life patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease at Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital in 2023. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 200 outpatients who were diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux at Tuyen Quang General Hospital. Use the Quality of Life in Reflux and Dyspepsia (QOLRAD) quality of life assessment toolkit to collect data from March 2023 to June 2023. Result: The average score of patients’ quality of life ranged from 4.33 points - 4.46 points. There is a relationship between factors such as education level (p = 0.015), drinking alcohol (p = 0.029), smoking (p = 0.017), duration of illness (p = 0.027), and place of residence (p = 0.002), number of meals per day (p = 0.037) and BMI (p = 0.045) with patient quality of life. Conclusion: Factors that related to the quality of life among patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease within the scope of the study included education level, alcohol consumption, smoking, duration of illness, place of residence, number of meals, food intake during the day and BIM. Patients need to strictly follow the medication regimen and make reasonable changes in diet and living habits.
