Knowledge and practice of breast self-examination among female nursing students at Duy Tan university

Objectives: To assess the knowledge and practice of breast self-examination and identify some factors related to the knowledge and practice of breast self-examination of female nursing students at Duy Tan University in 2021. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 200 female nursing students at Duy Tan University. Results:45% of female nursing students meet the requirements of knowledge about breast self-examination and 72.6% of female nursing students practice accurately. Factors related to knowledge of breast self-examination are academic year, personal and family history of breast diseases. There is a statistically significant relationship between students’ practice of breast self-examination and family history of breast disease. Conclusion: Nursing students who participated in the study had limited knowledge and practice of breast self-examination.Interventions are needed to improve knowledge and practice of breast self-examination for female nursing students.
