Knowledge and attitude on standard precautions of midwifery students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy

Abstract
Objectives: To describe the status of knowledge and attitudes about standard precautions of midwifery students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2024. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 68 undergraduate midwifery students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the current status of students’ knowledge and attitudes toward standard precautions. Results: Midwifery students with correct knowledge about standard precautions were 14.7%. Students with a positive attitude toward implementing standard precaution measures were 85.6%, with 14.4% having a neutral attitude and no students having a negative attitude. Conclusion: Knowledge of standard precautions among midwifery students is quite low, although students have a relatively high level of positive attitudes towards this issue. Therefore, midwifery educators need to pay more attention to this situation to implement appropriate interventions that improve knowledge and maintain students’ positive attitudes towards standard precautions in the future
