Abstract

Objective: Determine the continuing education needs of clinical nurses in the Internal Medicine and Surgery departments at Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital in the period of 2025 - 2026 from the nursing perspective.Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 132 nurses in 12 clinical departments of Internal Medicine and Surgery, Tuyen Quang General Hospital from June 2024 to August 2024. Result: The need for continuing education content from the nursing perspective were: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Respiratory resuscitation and Anaphylaxis. 11 specialized nursing techniques in Internal Medicine. 07 specialized nursing techniques in Surgery. Risk factor management. 03 soft skills. Training and scientific research in the nursing field. How to organize continuing education from the nursing perspective: Training time ≤ 5 days; Duration 02 - 03 periods/session; Study in the second quarter; Study location at the unit; Lecturers are staff of the unit; Direct study; Combining theory and practice; Need to issue certificates; The hospital supports all training costs. Conclusion: Determining the need for continuing education with priority for nurses is very important, as the basis for developing a continuing education plan for the hospital in the coming time is extremely important. It is necessary to combine the assessment of the level of implementation, level of confidence, the need for continuing education of nurses and provide specific selection criteria for each content to have a training plan suitable to reality, ensuring savings
