Current status of knowledge on compliance with the relapse prevention diet of patients with acute pancreatitis at Bach Mai Hospital in 2024

Abstract
Objective: Describe the current status of knowledge of compliance with the relapse prevention diet of patients with acute pancreatitis at Bach Mai Hospital in 2024 and some related factors. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 290 patients with acute pancreatitis at Bach Mai Hospital on knowledge of compliance with the relapse prevention diet of patients with acute pancreatitis using a questionnaire filled in from May 2024 to August 2024. Results: Of the total 290 participants, 15.9% were female, 76.6% were male, 67.2% had relapsed for the second time or more, and 57.7% had poor eating habits. The knowledge score of compliance with the diet X ± SD is 3.7 ± 2.18, the lowest score is 0, the highest score is 7. 35.9% of patients meet the knowledge requirement of compliance with the diet to prevent recurrence of acute pancreatitis . 43.9% are aware that they should eat many small meals, 46.6% are aware that they should eat protein like normal people, 61% are aware that they should eat less fat, 57.2% are aware that they should eat more green vegetables, 50.3% are aware that they should cook food by boiling or steaming. 51.7% are aware that they should eat lean meat and fish. 54.1% are aware that they should drink boiled water. Factors related to the number of times of illness (OR = 0.099 p < 0.05) and eating habits (OR = 3.321, p = 0.009) are related to knowledge of compliance with the diet to prevent recurrence of patients with acute pancreatitis. Conclusion: Patients with acute pancreatitis still have limited knowledge of compliance with the diet to prevent recurrence of the disease
