Evaluating the effectiveness of communication of medical staff when applying the AIDET model in clinical departments Yen Dinh district general Hospital - Thanh Hoa, in 2024

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of healthcare workers’ communication before and after applying the AIDET model in clinical departments of Yen Dinh District General Hospital, Thanh Hoa Province, in 2024. Research subjects and methods: Before and after intervention on 50 participants who are medical staff working at Yen Dinh district General Hospital. The study used a pre-designed toolkit to evaluate the communication effectiveness of medical staff before and after the AIDET model training intervention based on 5 criteria of the model including: greeting, introduction, time, explanation and thanks. Results: The average communication practice score based on the AIDET model improved across all three time points post-intervention compared to pre-intervention, increasing from 2.36 ± 1.35 (pre-intervention) to 4.68 ± 0.55 (two months post-intervention). The differences between the time points were statistically significant, with p < 0.001. The overall compliance rate at the T4 time point increased by 74% post-intervention compared to pre-intervention (from 22% to 96%), with the difference being statistically significant at p < 0.05. Conclusion: AIDET model training for health workers significantly improved the average score and compliance rates in communication practice according to the AIDET model
