Evaluation of the implementation of certain patient care tasks by nurses at Tay Nguyen University Hospital, Dak Lak province, in 2024

Objective: To evaluate the implementation of certain patient care tasks by nurses at Tay Nguyen University Hospital, Dak Lak Province, in 2024. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional descriptive design. Data were collected through direct observation of 30 nurses providing patient care, using a checklist for direct nursing observations and indirect observations through patient records. The study was conducted in seven clinical departments of Tay Nguyen University Hospital from March 2024 to September 2024. Results:Direct observation of nurses performing intravenous injection techniques showed an 83.3% compliance rate. The processes of assessment, problem identification, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care reached 86.7%. Documentation was fully compliant (100%). Daily monitoring and evaluation of patient progress, along with timely detection and reporting of abnormal developments, achieved a 70% compliance rate. Nutritional assessment and dietary care met 73.3% compliance. Palliative care for terminal patients and psychological support for patients’ families were performed at a 57.9% compliance rate. Conclusion: The implementation of certain patient care tasks by nurses at Tay Nguyen University Hospital, Dak Lak Province, in 2024, was generally at a relatively high compliance level
