Abstract
Objective: To assess treatment adherence among hypertensive outpatients and identify factors associated with their adherence.Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 238 hypertension outpatients at Son Tra Medical Center, Da Nang City, from December 2022 to September 2023. Data were collected through structured interviews using a 51-item questionnaire organized into four sections: (1) Basic Information; (2) Adherence to Hypertension Treatment; (3) Knowledge Related to Treatment Adherence; and (4) Social Support for Treatment Adherence. Results: The proportion of patients adhering to treatment was 42%. A significant association was found between treatment adherence and patients’ knowledge, as well as specific demographic characteristics, including education level, age, and duration of illness (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The study found a low adherence proportion among hypertensive outpatients. Clinicians should pay more attention to this issue and associated factors. Therefore, intervention strategies should be developed to improve patient adherence to treatment in the future
