EVALUATION OF KNOWLEDGE TOWARD MANAGEMENT AND COMPLICATIONS OF DIABETES IN TYPEE 2 DIABETIC PATIENTS

Objectives: To evaluate the knowledge toward management and complications of diabetes among the typee 2 diabetic patients. Subjects and methods: Cross-SectionalStudy was conducted on 200 patients with typee 2 diabetic mellitus currently managed treatment at the Diabetes Clinic Room of Department of Medical Examination, Thai Nguyen National General Hospital. Results: Rates of patients understanding knowledge about blood glucose index and knowing how to treat hypoglycemia was 92.5% and 97.5% respectively; Understandingthe causes of hypoglycemia: 91.5%; Understanding the effects of tobacco on diabetes: 81%; The highest knowledge of the patients was the complications of retinopathy and cardiovascular disease and other complications accounted for85%, 82% and 75-80% respectively; 82,5% of patients complied with their diets. Conclusion: Diabetes mellitus it can be controlled if the patient’s knowledge is fully updated knowledge and know how to closely monitor the course of the disease, adhereto treatment and that minimizes associated complication sofdiabetic mellitus.
