CHANGES IN TREATMENT ADHERENCE KNOWLEDGE OF PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE AMONG OUTPATIENTS IN NAM DINH GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2017

Objective: To describe knowledge of adherence and to assess of changing adherence knowledge of patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease after an educational intervention. Method: An educational intervention was implemented for one group with a pre-post comparison. Study subjects were 90 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who were treated as outpatients at the Nam Dinh General Hospital. Data was collected by using a questionnaires to assess the knowledge of the participants at three times: before intervention, after intervention immediately, and 8 weeks after intervention. Results: After the intervention, adherence knowledge of patient are improved at significant level: before intervention Mean = 8.57 ± 3.07; after intervention immediately Mean = 21.94 ± 2.47 and remained high at18.65 ± 2.97 at 8 weeks after intervention (p <0.001). Conclusion: Patients had limited awareness of adherence knowledge before educational intervention. However, adherence knowledge of patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was significantly improved after educational intervention.
