Abstract

Objective: To survey on the problems/challenges those nursing students of Hong Bang International University (HIU) reported facing in the clinical learning environment (CLE). Method: A descriptive cross-sectional design was conducted and the Clinical Learning Environment Inventory (CLEI) was used to ask 69 third-year nursing students (58 females and 11 males) of the Bachelor of Nursing Program from Nursing Faculty, HIU. Results: The mean score of V-CLEI in this study is 145 ± 11.02, with the lowest score being 123 and the highest recorded score being 177. Some challenges in the CLE for nursing students related to interpersonal relationships often with stakeholders or other health workers. Nursing students are not really aware of their role in clinical practice sessions, which could also become one of the barriers. However, a high appreciation for clinical instructors can be seen as a motivation to push the clinical learning process. Conclusion:These results of the study provide some initial information about the challenges and motivations for nursing students in the CLE. This helps the researcher give appropriate directions to improve the quality of nursing practice education.
