Abstract

Objective: To survey on current status of loneliness of tuberculosis inpatients in Nam Dinh Lung hospital. Method: A quantitative and qualitative research, 153 TB patients participated the survey, of which 10 patients were selected for in-depth interviews. Results: The low level of loneliness (20-34 score) accounts for the highest propotion with 60,1%, moderate level loneliness (35-49 score) is 19 % and high level loneliness (≥ 50 score) amounts to 20,9%. The average lonelinessscoreis 36,31%, the lowest lonelinessscore is 20 and the highest is 72. The evening is the time when the patient is most lonely. When experiencing loneliness, the patients tend to look for others to talk to or engage in recreational activities. Conclusion: The level of loneliness in tuberculosis inpatients in Nam Dinh Lung Hospital is modarate-high.
