IMPROVE KNOWLEDGE OF CERVICAL CANCER PREVENTION FOR WOMEN HAVING HEALTH EXAMINATION AT NAMDINH OBSTETRICS HOSPITAL IN 2020

Abstract

Objective: To describe knowledge and assess knowledge of cervical cancer prevention for women having health examination at Nam Dinh Obstetrics hospital in 2020. Method: Before and after study design was conducted on 65 women having health examination at Nam Dinh Obstetrics hospital from January to April 2020. Direct counseling was given to study participants individually. Data were collected by structured interview with pre-designed questionnaires. Results: The mean score of knowledge of cervical cancer prevention of women including, prevention and treatment, vaccination and screening was low before the intervention and increased substantially after one month of intervention: mean score of knowledge of the cervical cancer increased from 4,24 to 7,29; mean score of knowledge of prevention and treatment increased from 3,46 to 4,8 and mean score of knowledge of vaccination and screening increased from 3,30 to 5,43. The difference is statistically significant with p <0,001.Conclusion: Health education improved women’s knowledge of cervical cancer prevention significantly. The mean score of general knowledge of cervical cancer of women increased from 11,0 to 17,52 after 1 month after intervention.
