CURRENT KNOWLEDGE OF ANAPHYLACTIC PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT AMONG FINAL YEAR STUDENTS IN NAM DINH UNIVERSITY OF NURSING

Objective: To describe and to identify factors related to the knowledge of anaphylactic prevention and management among the 4th year full-time students in Nam Dinh University of Nursing. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 270 students studying at Nam Dinh University of Nursing in 2020. A self-completed questionnaire based on the Circular 51/2017/TT-BYT issued by Ministry of Health of Viet Nam was used for data collection. Results: in the content of knowledge regarding anaphylactic prevention:81,9% of students said that it is necessary to record information related to the patient’s allergies in the medical record, discharge paper, and hospital transfer. The proportion of students know clearly exploiting history of allergic diseases and specify the appropriate medications accounted for 55,2% and 26,7%. In the content of knowledge regarding anaphylactic management: Most students (85.6%) knew that the initial treatment of anaphylactic was to stop immediately the patient’s exposure to the allergen. The percentage of students who answered correctly about the next emergency step after the initial treatment accounted for 30%; There were respectively 43.3% and 42.2%, of students had correct answers of IM Adrenalin as the first administerd medication as soon as the diagnosis of the 1 and 2 degrees anaphylactic were diagnosed. Conclusion: Students’ knowledge of anaphylactic prevention and treatment is limited with 74.1% having average knowledge.
