KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF TREATMENT ADHERENCE AMONG OUTPATIENTS WITH CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE AT LANG SON PROVINCIAL GENERAL HOSPITAL

Objective: To describe the of knowledge and attitude of treatment adherence among outpatients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at Lang Son Provincial General Hospital in 2021. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive design was conducted, the self-completed questionnaires were used to assess the knowledge and attitude of treatment adherence among 65 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Lang Son Provincial General Hospital during the period from January to April 2021. Results: Among 65 patients in the study, the proportion of patients with correct knowledge about treatment adherence was 41.5%; The proportion of patients eating 4-6 meals/day was only 18.5%, the proportion of patients with correct knowledge about food groups that should be used for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was 43.1%. The rate of patients who knew the effective cough method was 46.2%; pursed-lip breathing 35.2%; diaphragmatic breathing exercise is 29.2%. The percentage of patients with the right attitude about treatment adherence was 56.9%. Conclusion: Knowledge and attitude about treatment adherence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease outpatients at Lang Son Provincial General Hospital in 2021 still limited. Research results showed that the health education, knowledge and attitude to treatment adherence for patients should be strengthen.
