CHANGES IN THE PATIENT’S PRACTICE ABOUT PREVENTION OF RECURRENT URINARY STONES AT NAM DINH GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2020

Objective: To describe and to determine changes in the patients’ practice about prevention of urinary stone recurrent at Nam Dinh General Hospital in 2020.
Method: An educational intervention study was performed among 60 patients with urinary stones from February 2020 to May 2020 in Nam Dinh General Hospital. The self-administrated questionnaire based on the Derek Bos2014 study was used to evaluate of patients’ knowledge before and after the education session.
Results: The mean scores of patients’ practice before the intervention, the day before discharge and one month later were 5,11 ± 1,57 points, 7,88 ± 1,29 points and 7,33 ± 1,24 points, respectively. The changes in knowledge overtime were statistically significant with p ≤ 0,01. The percentages of patients who had the good level of practice before the intervention, the day before discharge and one month later were 43,3%, 86,7% and 73,3% respectively.
Conclusion: The practice of 60 patients about prevention of recurrent urinary stones within the study was limited before the educational intervention then improved significantly after the intervention. The study shows the importance and nescessary of patient health education
