FACTORS RELATED TO NUTRITIONAL STATUS AMONG STROKE PATIENTS AT NATIONAL GERIATRIC HOSPITAL IN 2019

Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to investigate factors related to nutritional status at National Geriatric Hospital in 2019.

Methods: The cross - sectional study was conducted in the National Geriatric Hospital from August, 2018 to March, 2019 using the measurements of weight, height and BMI scale.

Results: In 125 stroke patients, prevalence of malnutrition according to BMI was 16,8%, normal was 80,0% and obesity was 3,2%. The patients with age group ≥70 had 2,8 times risk of malnutrition than those with the age group <70 (p<0,05). The cerebral infarction patient group had 1,9 times risk of malnutrition than the intraventricular hemorrhage patient group (p<0,05). Patients with gastric tube feeding had 1,6 times risk of malnutrition than those who with oral nutritional (p<0,05).

Conclusion: The prevalence of stroke patients at risk of malnutrition was high. There was a relationship between age group, type of stroke and feeding method
