Abstract

Research on the distribution, morphological and anatomical characteristics of Phytolacca americana L - a medicinal species that is also a poisonous species that users pay close attention to when using in some districts of Thanh Hoa province. Investigation and research results show that the adaptability and development ability of P. americana is quite high at altitudes of 100 - 1000 m in the midland and mountainous districts of western Thanh Hoa province. It is a species that loves the sun and grows well. It grows and develops on simple ecosystems such as bare land, ditch edges, abandoned hills, etc. with a layer of fresh shrubs with a height of 30 - 170 cm, coverage of 50 - 90%, along with some common accompanying species such as: B. pilosa L., A. compressus, E. odoratum L.. The results ò the study shou that the morphological and anatomical characteristics of P. americana plant contributes to identification and differentiation to avoid confusion with other medicinal plants when collecting, using and standardizing medicinal herbs.
