PRODUCTIVITY OF RED EAR JUNGLE (GALLUS GALLUS SPADICEUS) RAISED IN CONFINED HOUSEHOLD CONDITION IN THANH HOA PROVINCE

Abstract
The study was carried out on 84 red ear jungles (Gallus gallus spadiceus) (including 36 males and 48 females) kept in confined household condition in Thanh Hoa province from May 2016 to August 2019 to assess their production ability. Results showed that red ear jungles adapted well to captivity. At 12 weeks of age, chickens achieved survival rate was 87.67%; body weight was 452.28 g for males and 445.40 g for females. Egg productivity was from 18 to 23 eggs/hen/year; average laying rate from 10.29 to 12.38%; the percentage of embryos egg from 82.67 to 83.42%; hatching rate/embryo egg from was 80.95 to 81.73% with an average time of incubation was 18 days. The egg quality was high: egg weight was 28.69 g/egg; shape index was 1.36; the yolk index was 0.33; Haugh index was 72.40; the thickness of the eggshell was 0.31.
