MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SPECIES IN THE GENUS NEMIPTERUS SWAINSON, 1839 (PISCES: PERCIFORMES: NEMIPTERIDAE) IN THE COASTAL SEA OF NGHI SON TOWN, THANH HOA PROVINCE

Abstract

This paper provides the results of analyzing morphological characteristics of four species of the genus Nemipterus (family Nemipteridae) in the coastal sea of Nghi Sơn town, Thanh Hoa province, including Nemipterus virgatus, N. bathybius, N. marginatus, and N. aurora. The paper also analyses the differences between specimens in the study area with the previous studies. The differentiation of morphological characteristics between the four species is most evident in the color and pattern on the body.
