ASSESSMENT OF THE URBANIZATION AT BIMSON TOWN, THANH HOA PROVINCE

Abstract

Based on the nature and characteristics of the urbanization; function, role of city and legal documents of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on urban areas, the authors have proposed 20 criteria to evaluate the urbanization and apply to evaluate the urbanization in Bim Son town, Thanh Hoa province in the period 2000-2020 on 3 aspects of level, speed and spatial change. The assessment shows that the urbanization level of Bim Son town is low in the period 2000-2010 and the average level in the period 2010-2020; urbanization speed reached a very low level in the period 2000-2010 and a low level in the period 2010-2020. In the past 20 years, Bim Son urban space development has been quite fast to the south and southwest, the remaining directions are very slow. The authors have proposed a number of solutions to improve the speed, level and change the space in Bim Son town by 2030 so that Bim Son is really a growth pole in the northeast of Thanh Hoa province.
