Abstract

Transport infrastructure is necessary to connect the space of an urban area and is the driving force for socio-economic development. However, when developing traffic infrastructure to connect urban space between the left and right of the river, people often use a system of roads and bridges. These transport infrastructures have occupied a part of the river’s flood drainage space, so when there is a flood, it will greatly hinder the river’s ability to drain. This has made the level of flooding even more serious for the city. This study will evaluate the impact of three important traffic routes crossing the Tam Ky - Ban Thach river and the October 2021 flood will be simulated for the case with and without these three routes using MIKE software. The simulation results show that the flood drainage capacity of this river is significantly reduced, and the flooded area is also increased in the whole basin.
