Abstract

The study focuses on determinants of presenteeism (going to work despite being unhealthy, Aronsson, Gustafsson, & Dallner, 2000; Johns, 2010) and the relationship between presenteeism and employee happiness. The results are conducted based on 203 surveys of employees working in Ho Chi Minh City. Thanks to linear regression, findings mentioned supervisor support, vigor, and supervisor monitoring have a positive relationship with “positive presenteeism”; however, only supervisor support is statistically significant with “negative presenteeism.” In addition, the impact of presenteeism on happiness is relatively complex due to differences in the direction of the impact of presenteeism measures. Research helps scientists and managers gain more understanding of the factors that impact presenteeism and happiness.
