The relationship between Psychological Capital, Learning Motivation, and Learning Outcomes of students: An empirical study at Vinh Long University of Technology and Education

Abstract

The article was conducted to study the relationship between Psychological Capital (PsyCap), Learning Motivation, to Learning Outcomes of students at Vinh Long University of Technology and Education. When analyzing and evaluating learning outcomes, studies only focus on objective factors such as training programs, teaching methods, course content, etc., but PsyCap (subjective factor) will also have a positive and crucial impact. Therefore, this study focuses on psychological factors to detect the inherent effects on students’ learning outcomes. Through a survey of 768 students, with a quantitative method (Structural Equation Modeling - SEM), the finding shows that the positive effects of PsyCap and learning motivation on learning outcomes. Students with high PsyCap, the more confident, optimistic, hopeful, and adaptive in solving problems to achieve learning goals. As a result, they will be more committed, resulting in better learning outcomes. Thereby, the author proposes recommendations to, limits, and future research.
