Abstract

The ethical climate is a factor that has been studied a lot in recent years, but has not been studied significantly in an educational context. Therefore, the present study aims to examine the role of school ethical climate in promoting students’ classroom citizenship behavior via their identity. Data were collected by convenient, non-probability sampling and then were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 20.0 software. The participants were 803 undergraduate students enrolled at a university in Vietnam. Three main findings were obtained. Firstly, school ethical climate has a positive influence on student citizenship behavior in the classroom (including involvement, affiliation, and courtesy). Secondly, this kind of climate also has a positive impact on the students' moral identity. Thirdly, this perception, in turn, drives students’ classroom citizenship behaviors. Thereby, this research will contribute both academic and practical implications.
