Analyzing Australia’s 8th grade History Textbook and some suggestion for Vietnam

Abstract

In Vietnam, the textbooks have normally been considered as ordinances and a main knowledge transmission channels for many years. History textbooks both have advantages and disadvantages, including ideas that they seem to be heavy knowledge and boring for both teachers and learners. Because they focus on presenting knowledge rather than instructing self-study as a historian. Therefore, the study of textbooks and history textbooks of education developed countries is necessary to support the process of compiling new textbooks in Vietnam. This paper will focus on analyzing a Australian History textbook and making necessary suggestions to compile textbooks and design teaching activities to meet the requirements of general education innovation in Vietnam.
