Abstract

The article summarizes and analyzes the effectiveness of group presentations in improving the speaking skills of students who are learning English as a foreign language. The author has conducted a study with 160 students in the second semester, the first year at a public university in Hanoi on the application of group activities in speaking skills. They were divided into two classes - an experimental class (using the group presentation method) and a control class (learning by traditional method). The study collected information through three methods, including questionnaire, the results of the test before and after applying the group presentation method, and the results of the progress test. The research results confirm that: learning by group presentation method, students have improved their speaking ability clearly; better-speaking results than traditional learning in terms of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and interoperability. Besides, students' attitude to applying speaking skills was also improved.
