SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SEVEN-MEMBERED β-KETO ESTERS AS BUILDING BLOCKS TOWARDS ERVATAMINE SYNTHESIS

In this paper, seven-membered β-keto esters were synthesized as initial building blocks for the formation of the C ring and methoxycarbonyl group at C-16 of ervatamine molecule through ring extension process and α-hydroxymethylation of 1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decan-8-one. Their structures and properties were determined based on 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HSQC, HRMS spectra, and optical rotation measurement.
