Abstract

Child labor remains a pressing global issue, including Vietnam, especially the situation where children both attend school and participate in illegal labor activities, affecting the comprehensive development of children and becoming child laborers while still in school. Ethnic minority students in mountainous areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions are more likely to be involved in economic activities and face higher risks of child labor. This article will focus on the current situation of ethnic minority students in several secondary schools in Muong Te District, Lai Chau Province, identifying who participates in labor, the reasons behind their involvement, and their feelings of this experience. It also analyzes the effects of labor on their health, psychology, learning, behavior, etc. On that basis, the article proposes solutions for schools to strengthen the prevention of child labour, especially from the perspective of school-based social work.
