Abstract
The study of literature and theenvironment, or ecological criticism, is one of theincreasingly affirmed approaches to literary textswith the progressive devastation of the naturalenvironment in our time. With an eco-centricphilosophy, ecological critics always seek therelationship between nature and culture, the wildand the civilized. Diary of a Cricket and DesertedIsland by To Hoai has been warmly received byworldwide readers with various approaches to thework. By adopting an ecological approach todecode the foundational essence of these stories,we hope to provide readers, especially young ones,a fresh perspective on the familiar literature whileunveiling some novelty.
