Abstract
Rhetorical narratology was introduced inW. Booth's research work titled The Rhetoric ofFiction (1961), opening up a new tendency forstudying narratives. In the rhetorical aspects of thistheory, the narrator exists as an important code in theauthor's coding process and, at the same time, becomes an implied author's main tool in creating hisartistic world and persuading readers about a certainissue. Based on the rhetorical theory of the narrator,a crucial factor in the rhetorical narratologicalframework, the paper aims to examine Nguyen BinhPhuong's novel A Mediocre Example, which focuseson decoding the phenomenon of the diversificationof narrators. From there, we can recognize NguyenBinh Phuong's contribution to narratologicalmethods in the field of narratology in Vietnam andthe development of contemporary Vietnameseliterature
