Abstract

This study analyzes the poverty situation and proposes sustainable poverty reduction solutions for ethnic minority households in Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province. Based on the sustainable livelihood framework and mixed-method approach, the research identifies the main causes of poverty in the area and proposes feasible and practical solutions tailored to the local context. The findings show that poverty is the most prevalent among Mong, Dao, and San Chi households. Four major causes of poverty were: the lack of production capital, limited production knowledge and skills, difficulty in accessing markets, and the lack of arable land. Based on the field survey and grounded in the sustainable livelihood framework, the research proposes targeted solutions for specific ethnic groups. These findings provide important empirical data to inform sustainable poverty reduction strategies for ethnic minority households in Bao Lam and serve as a reference for future studies in regions with similar natural conditions and livelihood characteristics.
