Abstract
Ho Anh Thai is a successful novelist whose artistic innovations include extensive experimentation with genre fusion. The incorporation of other literary genres into the novel and the interrelationship between them have formed new, dynamic, and multi-voiced wholes. This article surveys genre interaction in Ho Anh Thai's novels through several forms, such as folk tales, short stories, plays, and memoirs. By pointing out the manifestations of genre interaction in Ho Anh Thai's novels, the article contributes discoveries to the writer's novels—that is, the assimilation of the remaining values of folk literature; marking a promising process of artistic experimentation and contributing to shaping Ho Anh Thai's innovative thinking about novels in the generation of contemporary Vietnamese writers
