Female characters in Tie Ning’s novels from psychoanalytic perspective

Tie Ning is a famous female writer of modern Chinese literature. She spends a considerable portion of her novels to investigate the contemporary women’s life with their hidden corners in inner depths. The female characters in Tie Ning’s novels are usually in a state of loneliness, impasse, panic, full of pent-up resentments and inner strife.
Studying the female characters of Tie Ning novels from the perspective of psychoanalysis gives the writer opportunity to explore the inner world of women, especially their unconscious life, which is full of resentment difficult to express. In this article, the author mainly examines three novels that have been translated into Vietnamese by Son Le namely “Rose door”, “Bathing women”, and “Rainless city”. With the help of psychoanalytic approach, the author attempts to find out the traumas of women's spiritual life since childhood, their instinctual aspirations, their loneliness, as well as their guilty obsession complex. This direction has contributed to highlight the typical characteristics of Tie Ning's novels, while also reveal part of women' spiritual life in contemporary society in China
