Abstract

The support of the Soviet Union for Vietnam in the field of education and training, especially in training Vietnamese students (Vietnamese students hereinafter are those who came to study in the Soviet Union at all education levels in the period of 1954 - 1975), has not been analyzed and researched deeply by the scientists yet. Based on the original diplomatic documents, plans, reports, etc., this article clarifies the legal basis for the Soviet Union’s helping the Vietnamese students in the period of 1954 - 1975; analyzes the quantity and quality of the Vietnamese students trained in the Soviet Union in the period 1954 - 1975, evaluates the effectiveness, as well as the influence of this help on Vietnam not only in the resistance war against the US imperialists but also in the process of national construction and renewal.
