Analysing to determine erosion causes of Xuan Canh embankment, left dyke of Duong river

Abstract

    Due to the complex nature of the hydrological and hydraulic regimes a Red River bifurcation between Red river and Duong river, the Duong river reach at the entrance is threaten. In recent years, erosion is often occurred with river bank and embankment protection works at this area, but recently (12/2012) Xuan Canh embankment (at K1 +00 left dyke of Duong river) was eroded. Therefore, a study to identify the cause of the erosion in the region is urgently needed. This paper initially analyzes causes of erosion of Xuan Canh embankment basing on the survey data, and mathematical simulation results.
