Environmental conflicts in using the surface water of Srepok river basin

Abstract

      The Srepok river basin plays a very important role in socio-economical development, international cooperation and environmental protection of the Central Highland region. There are many activities concerning uses of surface water resources such as hydropower, irrigation and water supply,... in this river basin. These activities are creating the environmental conflicts in water use of different users. Basing on the concept of sustainable development, in this paper the environmental conflicts in surface water uses and their reasons have been assessed and presented, and some measures for mitigation of these conflicts have also been proposed.
