Present management of domestic water quality in rural areas and some problems needed to be solved
Abstract
Presently, water supply and rural environment sanitation is playing an important part in the policies of rural development and environmental protection in industrialization. The implementation of national targeted programs on clean water and rural environment sanitation resulted to an increase in the percentage of rural people using sanitary domestic water from 32% in 1998 to 75% in the end of 2010. However, the achievements have not been sustainable. In order to gain the strategic target of 2020 "all rural people use clean water meeting the national quality standard with the minimum quantity of 60 liter per capita-day", it is necessary for Vietnam to make more efforts. To contribute to gaining this strategic target, this research was conducted with the aiming of reviewing the frame work of legal documents as well as real management of rural domestic water quality in present, from which to find out the problems needed to be solved in order to improve the effectiveness of rural domestic water quality management in our country, contributing to the success in gaining the national target of water supply and rural environment sanitation.
