Stability of slurry supported trenches in low cohesion soils

Abstract

    Soil-bentonite slurry trench is often used as an antiseepage structure for embankment dams and foundations. The stability of slurry trech during construction should be paid attention. The paper discussed the factors affecting the stability of slurry trench and stability analysis methods being used today. The stability charts under different conditions are drawn. Based on the research results, the paper gives some recommendations to ensure the stability safety of bentonite slurry trench during construction period.
