Risk analysis of flood defences of Giao Thuy coastal zone, Nam Dinh

Abstract

     This paper focuses on safety assessment of flood defence system of Giao Thuy Dictrict, Nam Dinh Province. Safety assessment of the system is based on analysis the mechanism failure, determination the probability failure each component and system. The determination of system safety standards is based on a risk based framework which takes into account economic risk and loss of life. Analysis shows that with present the social economic development of Giao Thuy, both the dike system and safety standards applied should be upgraded.
