Abstract

The Da river is the most important tributary in the Red river system. In the main channel, a multi purpose reservoirs system was established for: electric-power, flood control, water supply. In order to improve the regulating capacity, some hydrological - hydraulic models were used to estimate the runoff in the Da river but the limited lead time. The distributed hydrological model can connect to meteorological model easily so it can forecast the runoff with the further lead time. Despite this kind of model was researched for a long time, it has just been applied in Vietnam. This paper selected 2 models called DIMOSOP and MARINE for estimating the flood flow in the Da river. Then, some conclusions were given about applying them in flow simulation in the Da river in particular, and in Vietnam conditions in general.
