Abstract

The hydraulics of wave breaking and overtopping on a sea dike can be scaled down in a wave flume and gives the hydraulic response, see TAW 2002. However, soil and grass on the inner slope can not or hardly be scaled down. It is required to test a grassed slope in situ. The Wave

Overtopping Simulator is a device that can simulate overtopping wave tounges on a real dike crest and then on the inner slope. This paper focuses on the theory, boundary conditions and design of the Wave Overtopping Simulator.
