Studying on bank protection measures for confluence of Ma and Chu river, Thanh Hoa province when the upstream hydropowers operation

Abstract

    When Cua Dat reservoir on Chu river has been put into operation, it made and will make a huge change of hydraulic regime, hydrology characteristics in downstream river system by altering flow rate between Ma and Chu river, that leads to the changes of river morphology in the confluence area (Nga ba Giang). The variation in river morphology have adversely affected to the river training works at both sides of the river, causing bank erosion,... This paper presents research results to orientate solutions to stabilize river bank and protecting river bank from erosion which serve socioeconomic development at downstream area of Ma river, Thanh Hoa province.
