A method for determining area (or volume) of a stormwater detention pond for a new urban area

Abstract

     A new urban area developed upon an agricultural land or other land uses leads to the increase of peak discharge of the existing drainage system. This paper presents a method to determine the necessary area (volume) of a detention pond for a new urban zone to obtain discharge at a controlled cross-section without overusing of the existing drainage system and standing water.
