Abstract

Monthly water balance models are applied in a range of hydrological problems such as water supply, water balance in basin scale, assessment of climate change impacts on water resources... A two-parameter monthly water balance model was used to simulate runoff in some small catchments. This research applied the two-parameter monthly water balance model to a large basin by dividing it into sub-basins. Parameters in each subbasin were estimated based on physical characteristics of each subbasin such as land use, soil type... The results of runoff simulation in the Ma River Basin are acceptable. The values of Nash coefficient are high. The model can be calibrated and verified quickly, with less input data than other models.
